Damn he finally remembered that he wrote a book about this
left-liberals call him a tankie for this, even though he is a left-liberal himself

*I believe he once said that the fall of the USSR was one of the happiest days of his life, so yeah.
He also said it was “victory for socialism”. He’s maybe objective to Russia, since it’s capitalist state, but he sure never was for any AES.

What are some good examples of lies he’s told about socialist states and leaders?
Despite his usual anti-communist drivel, he has some sensible takes

It’s probably dementia, he forgot he’s just a safety valve.
I was just thinking about him. He and Vijay Prashad wrote a book recently. I’m sure I’ll read a couple of Noam’s books at some point, but dude is 🫤
They were on Guerilla History (kinda) together recently to talk about the book. Genuinely interesting stuff. Just makes it all the more frustrating that he refuses to use his analysis to form a coherent, anti-imperialist, based world view.
makc just did two great interviews with them
Imperialism and the Responsibility of Intellectuals with Noam Chomsky and Vijay Prashad
brian becker’s socialist program on break through news also did an interview with vj
The Weakness of US Empire & Defeat in Afghanistan: New Book by Vijay Prashad and Noam Chomsky
Listening to that Becker interview as we speak.
Brian Becker is fucking sick for an old white American
He’s still worth reading.
Since you already know what to critique Chomsky on, it’s all the more reason to read him. Manufacturing Consent (moreso by Edward Herman than him, but still) is a great text. They both ended up later saying Parenti-lite shit regarding Yugoslavia that got them into trouble for all the rights reasons, but a rare time they were in alignment with him.
I’ve heard Manufacturing Consent is good. I’ll see how I like that one and look into more after that.

We are living in strange times
Caitlin’s always bringing the spicy sauce
He’s been talking about NATO’s imperialism for decades… I don’t know why this is surprising. He’s quite possibly the single most cited person in academia of all time and he’s written well over a hundred books. And like half of those are on imperialism lol. Say what you want about him, but imo there’s nobody more well-studied on US imperialism alive today
I will one up you - Michael Hudson.
