Maybe I’m just getting old, on the older side of what qualifies as millenial, but I am far, far, far from an expert on programming or anything programming open source. I have a casual level interest in FOSS and linux and can, say, install linux on a hard drive and search google for command line tools.
But even I can see this clear and vulgar loss of extremely basic knowledge from people who seem to have heard about it second hand. It’s like even what little I know will be passed to the next generation through a game of telephone that makes me an expert relative to whoever writes articles like these.
