The select viedo/audio quality step as a separate window was an interesting choice, I guess I am used to the New Pipe UI. The app appears to be an evaluation version and one would need to purchase a license to continue using longer than 15 days. It was a little surprising as that was not mentioned on the snapcraft page.
app is usable even after evaluation ends. few features are locked.
Are there flatpak or distro-specific native versions? Snap isn’t the best way to install software on non-Ubuntu distros.
snap works on all major distros. flatpak and snap serves equally, i prefer snaps due to their small size and update mechanism. and robust and simple CLI snap tool provide. packaging tool called snapcraft is also very powerful. their autobuild CI/CD is also better than any other option available.
I tried to look, but the snapcraft developer site points to a github account. I don’t see utube in the repository lists. Which may make sense if he’s trying to license it.
FWIW, snap worked on Fedora 31 for me.
