I’m stuck in the U.S.

There is a lot of junk ingredients in U.S food, which can be a problem for mental health; as the human brain is influenced by and influences the gastrointestinal area.[1][2][3]

To describe this ‘gut-brain’ relationship in other terms: stomach conditions can change the general behavior of someone. The Brain-Gut relationship means that you can change the behavior of a person by changing the food they eat.

I think the U.S food industry outright drugs the people with addictive and junk ingredients (added sugar) to suppress class consciousness and marxist thought.

So how do I deal with the withdrawal of U.S food?

You just have to stop and… Basically suffer. I have tried several times to break off of junk food and other refined and overly processed foods and the most effective was to just stop and suffer through it. It took basically reprogramming my brain to not see those things as food. If you are able to control all the food in your house then don’t buy those things. Don’t keep them around. When you go to the store eat a big meal beforehand if you have to in order to keep you from impulse buying.

Best rewiring I ever did for my brain was a 6.5 day water fast. I did basically full on ketogenic for weeks before that. Then re-feed with salads and lacto fermented foods. It repopulated my gut with all the good bacteria that wanted just more salads and stuff. This had a longer lasting effect than anything I’ve done before. Also felt kind of awesome.

Also, if anyone wants to join the swoletariat and start working out regularly, you’ll eventually start cutting out junk food because of how it negatively affects your gains. IE replace the “i need to eat junk food” desire, with “i’d rather look and feel better” desire.

I used to run on my treadmill all the time and watch/listen to kpop… Haven’t done it since I started hiking all time time (while reading)…

But I feel like running again and I need to because next month me and some fam are doing a big hike/climb.

Not only this but what gets even more interesting is if you were to have refined sugar vs a natural sugar like honey. The refined sugar group will be more inclined to want even more sugar afterwards. Whereas the honey group feels more satiated. It’s believed because of all the other nutrients in natural sources of sugar, many of these effectively help the body digest the sugars, that cause you to feel more satiated.

Insulin resistant is like the #1 cause of all chronic health diseases. Like when you dig deep into it. Insulin resistant is the biggest factor. Highly processed sugars hit insulin harder and also eating constantly and never letting your insulin levels reset. Even a 16 hour fast will drop those levels to base line for a time.

Then theres also processed “vegetable” (seed) oils when are basically poison. If the process involves heating the oil then it’s breaking down things like vitamin E which is a powerful antioxidant and also oxidizing the unsaturated fats which makes them harmful to the body.

These two things are the foundation of the American diet. The sugar industry and seed oil industry has been buying out the FDA and american heart association for damn near a century.

Anything cold processed is good. Coconut, olive oil, avocado oil, real butter. Palm oil is ok too put I hate the palm oil industry and palm oil “natural” PB is a scam. Here’s some videos that started me down that rabbit hole. Dude presenting the shit isn’t the greatest but he gets the point across and the videos are good summaries. https://youtu.be/OGLwGOvvWeg https://youtu.be/-T79dJI3xIw

When you get the oil out of say, olives, you don’t heat them. You just press the olives and collect the oil. In order to process the oils out of say soybeans or cotton seeds the seeds/oil it repeatedly heated as a part of the extraction and purification process.

tbh, I just got too broke to afford junkfood anymore, so wound up cooking a lot of very basic meals. Caffeine came from this old box of tea. It kinda sucked, and I’m still an alcoholic, but I have massively cut down my sugar consumption.

Maybe start by reducing sugar to sugar-y vegetables with some added salt and pepper and see if you find that tolerable. Roasted carrots or whatever. Onions actually have a decent amount of sugar in them, which is more noticable if you cook them down. Not like… American breakfast cereal levels of sugar, but maybe that will click?

It really depends on how much time you have available and your local shopping options. Check out a local asian grocer for raw ingredients of various sorts if you can (spices). There may also be some lower sugar snacks available (though don’t be fooled, a lot of the savoury snacks can still have a decent amount).

“Diet” drinks aren’t amazing, but might be able to fill your desire for sweet things. Like a 2 L bottle of Pepsi Max has almost no caloric value, but is still sweet and fizzy and shit.

Eat more fiber to feel fuller more quickly.

Generally, I’m more of a fan of gradually cutting out regular bad things out of your life. Like, it’s fine to have chips or whatever at a party, but foods that you have laying around that you just kinda graze on are pernicious as hell.

I basically just eat a ton of meal bars and drinks, which granted is expensive as hell. In my middle and high school years I was an extremely underweight mess with acne which eventually pushed me into the habit of eating just high protein super foods regardless of the cost or taste.
