Okay, ignoring the fact that they have the sex chromosomes backwards, biosex genetics are not binary either. You can have trisomies or more, like XXX, XXY, XYY, or even XXYY. Or you can have only one X chromosome with no pairing chromosome.

Or, you know how in high school you learned about meiosis and crossing over? How it’s why most children of the same parents are genetically different from each other? Well, you can get accidental crossover between the X and Y chromosomes, namely the sex determining regions. That’s how you can get people with XX but develop biological male characteristics, and vice versa. It’s also why there are biologically intersex people and “hermaphrodites” (not sure of that word is PC, please let me know if it isn’t).

None of this have anything to do with gender identity though, just biological sex. But surprise surprise, science has also found real neurological, congenital, and yes, genetic factors, that contribute to a person’s likelihood of identifying as transgender, nonbinary, etc.

Transphobes love to say “take high school biology” as a snarky remark against nonbinary genders/sexes. To which I say, take college biology.

Then of course their fallback is that colleges are all taken over by leftists and blah blah blah. It’s like, okay, even if that’s true, they’ve still got way more scientific knowledge under their belt than your ignorant ass, so maybe approach this with some humility.

Edge cases are still real cases. It’s a proof by counterexample against the binary gender claim, which states that there are only two genders – a single example not fitting the model can be sufficient to invalidate the model, that’s how science works.

And transgender identity isn’t nearly as common as cis gender identity either. If someone can accept chromosomal abnormalities as edge cases, which are by definition, still valid cases, why can’t they do the same with gender identity?

Also, peer review is a cornerstone of science. Want to dispute it? Then use the scientific method to do so. Otherwise, fuck off.

“It’s a biological classification, nothing more.”

Yeah, if only they actually grasped what they’re saying here lol. Those living beings experience gender, and their biological classification doesn’t encompasses that gender experience.

One might say because it’s a biological classification, nothing more…

Your biological doesn’t care about your “experience”, it dictates what you are whether you chose to live that way or not.

Gender identity is social, not biological. From different pronouns and titles, different clothes for males and females, different hairstyles, different preferences for things that couldn’t have possibly existed when humans evolved, different perceived roles in society, etc. None of those are genetic, none of those you’re born with. So why can’t someone act how they want within that social framework, instead of how they “should” act based on a largely irrelevant biological factor? Transgender identity, similarly, is majority about acting like a different gender because you identify with what society has decided that gender acts like more.

In hunter gatherer societies for example, men and women did basically the exact same things in the tribe. Women hunted, men gathered, and vice versa. If that doesn’t bust the myth that modern societal gender roles have any sort of “biological” origin, I don’t know what does. More info with sources: https://yewtu.be/watch?v=VANvh-bA-BU

So the current definition of a “transphobe” is somebody that grasps biological / genetic fact… Gotcha! I lose track of which words are being repurposed to ensure people remain offended at all costs.

The joke is that this person, believing they know everything about chromosomes, can’t even the basics right. XY is male, XX is female…

If you actually grasped biological/genetic fact and not what Professor Facebook is teaching, you’d realize the validity of nonbinary gender. See my other comment in this thread.
