Also not super important or well known, but what they did to Victor Jara always gets me too. Guy was a teacher, socialist and a fairly well known musician, so ofc Pinochet had him tortured and murdered. Because he was a guitarist, they smashed his hands and fingers and asked him to play the guitar. Mad lad instead sang the protest song Venceremos before they offed him. The defiance in the face of cruelty like this is just heartbreaking.

Why do fascists have such a hatred for socialists? People who only want to help the world and all peoples. Do they hate us so much because they are secretly envious of our ability to have compassion instead of selfishness?
They hate us because we are the biggest threat to fascist (very few liberals do anything to stop fascism), also fascism needs a scapegoat so socialists will be scapegoats (along with most minorities).
If we understand fascism as the violent response of capital to social upheaval and uncertainty in times of peril, as a reaction to growing anti-capitalist interests it has to be hostile to us. If it wasn’t so violently hostile against us, it wouldn’t be fascism.
On an individual level, these people, especially the grunts doing the on the ground dirty work, have no fucking idea what we actually believe. To them we’re some otherized animal, a personified devilish threat to everything they are and hold dear and that’s why we’re deserving of this brutality. Ever seen comments on videos about abused animals online? How the people go absolutely berserk there, fantasizing about the most despicable, violent and cruel ways to kill and torture the people that abused those animals? That’s what compels the fascist. It’s just not in reaction to abused animals, but to the abuses they think we’re carrying out against their ‘way of life’, their people, their nation, their religion or whatever.
Ah yes i’ve definitely noticed that weird violence against animal abusers. Not that i would defend them, but the violence aways seems to extreme and over the top that i figured in a world where we’re supposed to be restrained these people need an outlet to vent their rage on that is deserving of it. That’s why there’s Nazi killing fetishism, and the whole zombie craze, which was basically an expression of this need to brutalise hordes of people who are human yet inhuman.
These people, libs and fascists, are full of anger, rage and hatred, but they suppose they are moral and superior people, so they latch onto a target which is acceptable for their rage and sadism. It just always struck me as odd that they include communists in this group, because it always seemed that most people at least had the idea that communist is “good on paper not in practice” but recently the trend is changing to view all leftists as equal to nazis.
Here, in Romania, they dug up the graves of socialist leaders and martyrs from the mausoleum in Carol Park, and had them reburied in several other cemeteries.

The government became obsessed with the idea of removing the socialist governments from history (except for screeching “gommies ebil” in schools).
This was among the first things they did. It was kind of double fucked up, because they decided that something had to fill up the mausoleum, so they dug up even more graves, this time of WW1 soldiers, and stuffed them in the mausoleum.
Thats… I can’t even articulate how screwed up that is. Holy fuck.
To the people it is the genocide of the indigenous people in America and the whitewashing made by the same countries who did the genocide.
And i think that the communists in Germany and Italy probably haved the worse ends of all socialists on history, they where persecuted and criminalized one by one, killed on the streets and sended to rott on prisons, and even when they asked for their goverments to do something, to mantain democracy, they where just ignored. Imagine how the last socialists on those countries feeled when most of their friends where exiled, inprisioned or killed, and the fascists where seizing the power in the country…

Also even though I would hesitate calling him a socialist, how Ceausescu and his wife were killed after a hasty show trial disgusts me.
Poor, benevolent Ceausescu only wanted to help the downtrodden people of Romania. And how did they thank him? Summary execution! The greatest injustice of the century. Even now, the Catholic Church’s refusal to beatify him just adds insult to it all.
