Did they get tired of bumping chests?

This isn’t about egos, but about existential threats. As climate change grows deserts in China, food will become scarce. This will push China up onto it’s neighbors – and beyond. Unless they invest massively in indoor farming. But it’s terrifying to see them do everything but.

I was mostly joking. They have apparently been using unarmed chests bumping to assert disputed borders. I gotta hand it to them, it’s a great way to avoid violence, but it sounds rather comedic.

Oh? I recall they were arming up with medieval polearms, after incidents with pipes and chains. Anything short firearms to literally avoid the accusation of “they shot first.” But it is violence. Border guards on both sides have died, at this point, if I recall correctly.

From a quick look around the Internet, it sounds like my impression was outdated. Apparently around September 2020, China started carrying some outdated weapons. There was also a clash that got very lethal a while ago. However, the intent still is to keep the conflict low key and not let it spiral out of control over some marginal land.

Yeah, it’s pretty obvious that both India and China have far more to gain from cooperation than from conflict. Russia has great relations with both and will likely act as a bridge to bring them together.

US geopolitical incompetence is forcing India to choose a side now. US went after Russia with sanctions, and when they realized that India wasn’t going to follow they started threatening both with more sanctions. This clearly tells India that US sees it as a puppet that it can dictate foreign policy to, and that using dollar as a reserve currency is not safe.

The choice between aligning with a dying power that’s becoming increasingly belligerent or a rising one that acts rationally and predictably is an easy one. China and India may disagree on lots of things, but two rational actors can work together towards mutual benefit.
