    Maybe an unpopular opinion but having a name for a Lemmy user is cringe.

    What are you gonna ask someone at a party if they’re a lemming? They’re gonna look at you like wtf are you talking about.

    It has big “the narwhal bacons at midnight” vibes.

      I disagree. “Lemmings” is more akin to “Redditors” than “the narwhal bacons at midnight”.

        Fair, but I think the term redditor is also super cringe. I can’t think of any context where I’d be comfortable using it in a non-derogatory way

      depends entirely on context.

      Walking around at parties asking people if they’re lemmings: very cringey.

      Referring to other users in a comment on lemmy: less so, but still potentially cringey.

      I’ve never been asked at a party if I’m a Redditor lol. I think that’s just a context issue
