Pathfinder’s action system is just a lot better than D&D’s.
Also, the way it handles critical failures or misses is more fun. IIRC, D&D is just 20 and 1. Whereas Pathfinder makes 10 over DC or 10 under DC a critical success/failure respectively. And in fact it’s not just a yes or no thing, but a scale that can even cancel out (so a nat 1 but 10 over is just a normal roll). Many spells and such have special effects for critical success/failure.
