I don’t know if this is the right community, if it isn’t warn me and I’ll move the post!

So I saw a meme about piracy on reddit (apparently a tankie HQ) and I wanted to share it on the biggest piracy instance on the fediverse, with good intentions I post, it gets some replies, but the funny thing is I can’t reply as the post has been removed by the admins of that instance.

I couldn’t care less, it’s just a low-quality meme, in fact I’m amused more than I’m sad. These libs are doing what the US state dept was doing during the cold war FOR FREE!

I hope you all can share my amusement at the fact that apparently all it takes nowadays to be called a tankie is to be against big tech and to post from a mainstream instance. You don’t even have to be a communist, it’s full paranoia on their part at this point.

The meme in question, nothing “tankie” about it as far as I can tell.

Edit: btw the community about censorship on lemmy has been… Eliminated

I guarantee it’s because of the word “privileged”, what a bunch of absolute babies. A lot of db0 users are cool but their admins are so fuckin libertarian-brained. Hey jackasses, it’s not “tankie” to point out that if you spend a large amount of your time browsing an internet forum you are probably decently well off in life. Also the meme is making fun of people who are anti-piracy! Its on your side!!

I mean, just posting from a lemmy.marxist-lennist account is tankie adjacent right there 🤭

Lol, you’re (probably) joking but at this point I’ve seen about a dozen people from liberal instances like .world equating lemmy.ml and lemmygrad. I mean we’re still leagues above the average reddit.world user but we are pretty heterogeneous.

There’s a thin line between ‘tankie thought’ and ‘based justification of media piracy’ that nobody can define because there isn’t a line, it’s the same thing, and liberals just convince themselves that there must be a line because otherwise they’d have to acknowledge the substance to ML.

Uhm sweaty this is a safe space for crackers. Please keep tankie drivel like white privilege and world systems theory out of here.

Wonder how long before this “piracy” instance starts talking about copyright law and how important IP protection is.

Though I expect we’ll see a lot, lot more of this from libs going forward, we’re in a new age of McCarthyism and anything they don’t like will be called “tankie propaganda.”

Thx, as a reward here’s some other random unsolicited pictures of my cats, to unsubscribe from random pictures of my cats text “STOP”

The black one is the older and is named frippa, my username comes from her

My favorite is remì though, the tabby one

We had an older one called micia (slang for female cat in Italian) but she sadly passed away in February, stopped eating and even the vet couldn’t figure out what was wrong (we had to took her because her previous owner had passed away) she probably wasn’t able to manage the shock, she was old (about 13)

A lemmy instance focused around piracy and other tech stuff, some of their users are pretty good and some of them are even comrades but the mods/admins are, sadly, insufferable radlibs
