I read The Verge’s latest interview with Steve Huffman here and it seems as though the Reddit blackout is having little to no effect. It also seems as though the communities at large don’t really care and will probably just use the official app or don’t really know there are 3rd party ones. So it seems this will pass and be mostly forgotten about.
What are your thoughts?
They gave an end date to the protest. All they had to do was ride out the storm. Reddit knows they will lose a certain percentage of users. Is it going to be impactful? Probably not as much as people think. Even if they closed indefinite, Reddit would step in and reopen the subs with new mods. Mods have no power unless Reddit allows them to have it.
