In Lemmy my user is @arne@posta.no. Is there a reason for this double usage of @?
I would like to suggest that we start using tilde (~) as the prefix for usernames just to make it a bit more readable.
Meaning my username would be ~arne@posta.no

It’s a the double @ seems to be a general fediverse thing.
Looks like it’s because you’re a @user (inspired by Twitter maybe), as opposed to a #topic or a !community
I understand that, but I believe duplicating the @ in a username is confusing. With ~ we could have #topic, !community, ~user and @server
I agree with this. Personally I feel it is better to have distinct separate ways to refer to distinct separate things. A user is not a server, so I don’t think it should be referred to in the same way as a server.
Love this idea, more Unix like
