For me it feels like breaking up with someone after many years. At the same time, I feel a bit dirty mentioning the name in the post title.

    Yes and no. Reddit had become toxic and a shadow of it’s former self. It was a good run for 11 years. Hopefull Lemmy can be an alternative. :)

      Yeah I’m with you. I was on reddit for 16 years. I only went there because Digg started to suck. It’s been kind of a slow burn, but Reddit has been getting steadily worse for a long time. It finally got to the point where I got banned from r/news and called a troll for just presenting a viewpoint the mods didn’t like, no insults or sarcasm, just discussion. I’ll miss a few niche subs but there’s no reason they can’t be recreated here.
