“Quick, it made into the news! Damage control, damage control! Reinstate his account, otherwise people will notice the censorship! Let’s pretend that it was a mistake!”

I’m eager to see your guide.

Why does this sound so accurate 😭💀

I’m eager to see your guide.

Appreciate the enthusiasm man! Will do my best, and if y’all have ANY tips, shoot em up.

For the guide, I needed an explanation on how to subscribe to local vs. not local communities. Also, the difference in subscribing to a federated community that is already linked to your instance, vs linking it the first time (by copy pasting it’s address into the search bar). Especially note that you might have to wait a few minutes after searching it the first time, refresh, then search again to be able to sub. That was really confusing. Also that process doesn’t seem to work at all if you’re in jerboa, at least for me.

Also, how to sub in jerboa: you probably have to open the sidebar.

Those have been most confusing so far. I didn’t really need a guide on “this is how federated systems work”, as much as a step by step guide for finding and subscribing to communities of interest. Honestly, an mspaint/screenshot idiot’s guide with “click here first” level instructions would go a really long way in helping people figure it out, then we could copypasta it easily as well.

For finding content, https://browse.feddit.de/ has come in handy.

Reddit ONLY does anything when they get bad press about it.

Why does this sound so accurate

Because it sounds so familiar. This is exactly Reddit’s MO, and we’ve seen it play out dozens of times.

It’s just embarrassing itself at this point, and the so-called spamming allegations were actually just bullshit coverup on me that reddit just broke itself.

    Funny tinfoil Conspiracy time:

I’ve been posting on reddit about Reddit blackouts and lemmy a bit lately.

    Coincidentally:

I had a 15 year account suspended yesterday. Never an issue. I mentioned in a thread about the video game Red Dead Redemption 2 that it was fun killing slave owning, confederate, non player characters.

    Polygons.

In a mainstream video game. Where it’s part of the storyline.

    Banned for inciting violence.

Better not post positive reviews of wolfenstien.

Ah yes because hating confederate slave owning racists in a video game is a bad thing. Good to know what side of the fence Reddit sits on lol

Nope, I submitted my appeal and even contacted r/modsupport to actually see if there is any truth to the spamming allegations, but nope, they haven’t given a single reply, just randomly brought back my account, just like they briefly banned r/LemmyMigration just to bring it back up as people started noticing them censoring things. They also did not remove any of my cross-posts.

I’m happy here now. There’s enough traffic. I’ll definitely miss the mainstream, art sites. Artists are not going to come here. But, I’ll persist and enjoy the geeky stuff I love

FYI, r/LemmyMigration is not accessible from the web unless you are logged in. A pop-up directs you to log in or go to r/all.

know what’s really strange? I went to that post from the link and it kept logging me out.

Preeeetty weird if you ask me. Thing is I was logged in… but still kept prompting me with a login message. Reddit is onto some dodgy shit.
