That’s actually some interesting sociology. How would you go about having an intelligent agent/actor maintain loyalty to his group if someone tries to “reason” with him?

Well, if he has been taught to dismiss it outright without considering the argument with a pithy “I don’t want to listen to your talking points” (the wording doesn’t matter, there are several variations), then he will remain loyal because he dismisses it without considering the argument but also without completely wrecking his ability to sometimes act intelligently and consider arguments (good arguments, the ones your group makes obviously).

Without it, the other side can win. Either one of their arguments is logical enough to convert him, or they saddle him with so many arguments that won’t work but that wastes his time as he reasons his way through them (a sort of denial of service attack on the brain).

We all believe that we’re intelligent and rational, but we’re just dumb monkeys who are incapable of rationality. None of you are capable of considering arguments unless first they have been vetted by your ingroup.

This is the mentality at work, and also why you are punished for your non-conformity. Conform or be punished pimento.

No, but this is clearly pink capitalism, which is liberal propaganda. If I disagree with an anarchist or some other type of anticapitalist leftist I will not think that, for example.

lol, it’s not a matter of disagreement. Even on a community like Lemmy, it doesn’t take a lot for some people to show their true colours.

You know men are not the only rapists, right? Transpeople can also rape, sure it’s less probable because there’s not a systemic issue where society raises them as rapists but it still can happen. It’s cringe because she pushes the TERF narrative where transwomen are but men dressed up as women just to get into their circle, rape them and destroy biological feminism from within.

      Her books are ok, though.

Your rant is really confusing, no idea what you are trying to say. Anyway the topic isnt really about transgender people. The linked article states: “Police Scotland said that they would log rapes as being carried out by a woman if the accused person insists, even if they have not legally changed gender”. So according to that, a man can rape someone, and when caught, tell police that he’s actually a woman (probably hoping to get a lower sentence). How is that beneficial for anyone but rapists?

I agree it can be misused, and people can have a rightly so concern about this. That’s not my point, my point is that she grabs any chance she gets to trash transpeople. She is not voicing a legitimate concern about rapists and victims or whatever, she’s just pushing the “transwomen are men in disguise to rape us” narrative.

You know men are not the only rapists, right? Transpeople can also rape, sure it’s less probable because there’s not a systemic issue where society raises them as rapists but it still can happen.

Any type of minority can rape, not only men. Men are raised in a society where rape culture flourishes, therefore they tend to be the ones who do it most.

It’s cringe because she pushes the TERF narrative where transwomen are but men dressed up as women just to get into their circle, rape them and destroy biological feminism from within.

Typical TERF narrative they use to delegitimize transwomen.

          Her books are ok, though.

          Her books are okay.

          I don’t know what’s confusing about it.

Maybe this is part of some twitter drama that I dont know about. I am simply talking about the linked tweet and article. None of what you say makes much sense in that context.

There are many things you could say about her. Claiming she writes good books isn’t one of them.

She writes very successful books, at least. I’ve never read 'em, but clearly they work for a large number of people.
