Well now we have Reddit alternative (lemmy, kbin, etc) and a Twitter alternative (Mastodon). I just came across an idea of a dating app/making friends fediverse but idk how would that work but looking at how dating apps are these days which are a total shit show, I am kinda curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on that idea.

I think just like how lemmy.ml and some other instances of that app users would have to be approved first before they are allowed to use the app rather than leaving it free-for-all type registration. That might help alleviate some bot concerns and could filter out some bad actors early on. I was thinking of maybe adding 2FA with their emails or their numbers or saving a randomly generated security-key like what Element.io has for all matrix users.

I was more so thinking that since there won’t an ELO score algorithm like Tinder has that can be punishing for users on there or the other algorithm where men would have to pay for boosting their profiles. The only thing I am struggling to think of how can that app help address the issues women and the LGBTQ+ face when they’re trying to find someone on that app and make it safer for everyone using it as well.
