It’s definitely “working” against EU users, that’s for sure. The message they’re trying to send is “We can’t be bothered to follow protocols and facilitate EU users, so run along!”. Some sites that do block EU even have the audacity to state something along the lines of “We care about our EU users”. Yuck.

I get that, but that’s the dilemma of it all. While it protects EU users’ data, it comes with a cost of not being able to access the website. I don’t know if I speak for everyone when I say this but I’d like to visit websites without being stopped dead in my tracks simply for living in the EU. At the same time, I want to keep my data safe and sound from greedy businessmen. But that’s a bit of a pipe dream since I ask for too much of the currently GDPR non-compliant websites.

Outline.com kinda mitigates that hurdle, but some websites straight up can’t be Outline’d. VPN is a great solution, but I’m piss poor and I find it redundant to entrust free VPN services to access these GDPR non-compliant websites.
