And as usual, you’re refusing to see a distinction when there is a significant one. It’s one thing if random people are using rhetoric like “orcs” or “Satanists”. It’s completely different when a leader or their government is using that rhetoric. Putin’s slander is setting the tone for the war. First it was Nazis, now it’s Satanists.

But you know what Western politicians have called Putin the entire Russian ethnicity? “Uncivilized.”

That’s worse than calling them satanists. Satanists is clearly not meant to be literal. Uncivilized is.

If you don’t see how the rhetoric from the white house is setting the tone for the war in the west, I really don’t know what to tell you. Again, the fact that you can easily see one type of propaganda but not the other is very telling.

I’m not saying I’m happy with the rhetoric out of the White House 100% of the time. I’m saying it’s a far sight better than the leaders of the Western nations calling Russians literal Satanists.

I don’t actually see how the packaging affects the message which is that Russia is not a rational actor, that the war was unprovoked, and that negotiations are not possible. The goal of the propaganda is to prolong this conflict. What specific terminology is used to achieve that is entirely irrelevant.

Those are all points that are arguably true to some extent, or are at least a matter of opinion. This bilge about Nazis and Satanists is shameful and does not befit a world leader. That it is coming out of the mouth of the head of a former superpower how far Russia truly has fallen.

First of all, it’s clearly true to a very great extent. A clear illustration of that was seen just recently when 30 progressive democrats merely suggested that perhaps negotiation should be attempted and were forced to retract that a day later. There is zero room for negotiation in the political discourse right now. Meanwhile, the fact that Ukraine has a problem with nazis is a well documented fact. The shameful part here is that people in the west continue trying to whitewash these nazis.

I didn’t say that Ukraine doesn’t have some problem with Nazis. That is definitely true. What isn’t true is that it is governed by Nazis, which has been stated repeatedly by Putin and used as a justification to invade.
