I would love to be able to discuss the war on my lemmy.ml account without risking a ban.

Generally I have not found a good replacement for the reddit war tracking threads on Lemmy.

Isn’t that the beauty of a fediverse?

You can just move to another instace, if you do not agree with the current one you’re at.

Heck, you could even host your own, to completely set your own rules.

Pro and a con because of the echo chamber affect.

Sometimes it’s refreshing to read actual discussion instead of reaffirmations of the same viewpoint

You can’t really “move”, you can only create a new account… would be great if you could somehow export/import and maintain your history.

Sure but that doesn’t make the matter above reproach. The fact that the Lemmy devs have a soft ban on discussing a literal fucking war in Europe in their own instance is generally something which should be discussed and made widely known.

Also censorship on large instances absolutely impacts discussion across the broader fediverse. It’s not like people are coming in here wanting to say the N word or deny the Holocaust. This is a topic which is on the front page of every newspaper. Even among other examples of senseless editorial, the policy is notable.
