I signed up with beehaw first, but realized that they were defederated from lemmygrad, which I wanted access to. As I became more acquainted with lemmy and started looking into the “flavors” of the different instances, I joined lemmy.ml because they are unapologetic communists and won’t defederate with lemmygrad.
As an aside, it’s fucking insane to me that lemmygrad is so controversial yet there’s crickets about exploding-heads and people are happy to be on instances that don’t block them. Cool
I wanted both exploding-heads and lemmygrad. I just like to know what people with different ideologies are saying. Also I support free speech as long as your not calling for violence. I picked Lemm.ee mostly because the only instances they defederate are bot farms. It’s actually a pretty solid instance all around. I haven’t had any problems during this mass exodus from reddit.
Well I appreciate that you’re not censoring lemmygrad if you’re not censoring exploding-heads, at least. I just find it really concerning when people go on and on about “echo chambers” and “free speech” but when it comes to communism, theres no quarter even if they are all anti racism, anti transphobia, etc. Yet, when it comes to exploding heads where there are most definitely people who agree with the insane things the supreme court is doing, think being transgender is a mental illness, think women should be sentenced to life in prison because they had abortions etc. Well that should be allowed because that’s just “seeing both sides”. Nah. That’s violence.

Maybe more and more, sh.itjust.works hasn’t and theh just had a big post.about it, yet lemmyvraf was probably blocked immediately without discussion.
