In case someone didn’t know :) With gmail (probably other services too) you can transfer mails to another email account !

Every 14 days I ask for a new PIN and I automatically get the email from my brothers Netflix account to my mail box ! :)

But I don’t need it anyway ! High seas it is and looking to migrated my whole family to my arr-stack ! No more 5 different services to pay for !

Yeah that’s a real use case, i get that! and good this kind of feature exist for people who really need it !

Otherwise I don’t really see why a healthy person would use this feature… That’s my point, now you have for every new phone this feature enable by default…

You could probably start this interface on boot and have a similar TV experience as Android TV box where you can put Jellyfin and other apps.

You still need to configure some controller or remote to navigate the interface !

Your only limit is your own imagination on Linux :) !

It’s the kind of thing people think they needed, when actually they dont… Who the fuck needs to know how many steps you did this afternoon? Or how “good” you slept yesterday? How many calories your ate this morning…?

I haven’t seen a single good use case of this kind of tracking device, except for your insurance/bank…

3-5 years? I’m not sure about that… I got 4 Industry Red HDDs from my job… They have over 10 years of full load and they don’t have a single reallocated sector count, reported uncorrectable errors or current pending sector count.

I guess consumer grade HDD have some kind of programmed obsolescence ?

Yeah, I had the same feeling before I discovered how powerfull it is.

It’s not that hard to keep it well organized manually I guess, but you have to be very thorough and always keep the same structure when you do something ! I’m not at all an expert in scripting or programming on Linux and i’m relatively new in the Linux familly so I guess Im lacking a lot of basic skills in that matter.

I did appreciated my manual setup for a while. Also I did learned a lot of new things (what are inodes, files, hardlinks, softlinks, mount points, ffmpeg, mkvtools…) But now that I have that new basic knowledge I can take away this mental charge and just let it run whithout the need to overthink things !

I think it’s the best course of action for my learning Linux journey :)
