It broke Jerboa. I couldn’t get jerboa to change to view all or change sort. On my lemmy.ml or lemmy.world accounts. So I assumed the jerboa v0.0.36 update broke it. I Uninstalled jerboa and tried to sideload 0.0.35 but no matter what apk I download it acts like 0.0.36 and says the server is out of date and won’t log in. Now I can’t log in to lemmy.world because they are on 0.0.17 (since the update broke their server).

Thanks for the work, but rolling out two updates simultaneously makes diagnosing issues impossible.

  • I will probably always stick around on Lemmy. As far as ditching reddit completely, I hope so. There are sport subs and game day threads that are going to be missed until hopefully that traffic picks up here. When Reddit is Fun goes I am not going to install the stock app. I will likely keep my account and use a browser for those threads. My daily traffic will remain here. I may wipe all my old comments, posts, and contributions to keep them from benefiting from my contributed content. Not that anyone cares about my shitposts, it’s just the principal. Then be a leech when there is something they offer that isn’t here until/if this place grows.

  • There are lot of businesses that are “unprofitable” after they pay for “business expenses”. The line if what constitutes a “business expense” is (intentionally) fuzzy. It may be a lot if luxurious shit for high up execs, because they need to appear to live a certain lifestyle to further the business. Then a modest salary. If it is a business expense they claim it as a loss and they pay less in taxes.

Unprofitable doesn’t mean shit, really. You can make the numbers look like whatever you want. Also /u/spez is a known fucking liar.

  • Guy_Fieris_HairtoLinuxuhhh... what do I call the "subreddits"?

I think “sub” is what people are going to call them reguardless. It is just internet language at this point, a subdivision of a community (by community I mean lemmy as a whole) is called a sub. Weather it’s a subreddit or sublemmy. I’m not saying bring reddit with us, I am just saying the internet can take the term “sub” with it and use it elsewhere.

Probably not just waiting for instances to smooth out, but waiting to see if reddit actually follows through. I think they likely will, but there is an off chance heads roll when they realize all the people creating, aggregating, and moderating their site are the ones that are pissed off and leaving. The casuals may not care directly about this decision, but they will when the content goes to shit.
