I’ve got a decent but not impressive collection of various mainstream and niche handheld devices. My favorites are probably my Odroid Go and PSP.

I have the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo 3DS XL.

I had fun with those third-party cartridges for my DS that let you load unauthorized softwares on it to play ROMs from other consoles on it.

Same with the 3DS XL, you can actually load a trimmed down version of RetroArch a play some ROMs from other consoles on it, it’s pretty cool :D

Yeah, that’s neat! I have a hacked DSi but I really only play DS games on it because there isn’t really anything other than original hardware that’s good to play DS games on. I’ve got plenty of options for emulating everything else.

I had the PSP and currently have the PS Vita… Such an underrated, overlooked, underappreciated piece of tech. Thankfully, the business for Vita homebrew and hacking/modding is booming.

I owned a Nintendo DS. My friend gave it to me as a gift. I had a lot of fun playing games especially Pokemon games. Also super Mario Bros as well.

I didn’t have a phone at that time so I carried my DS pretty much wherever I went. The thing is built like a tank. Dropped it many times and even accidentally put it in the washing machine. It still works.

Now I don’t play it at all.

Nice. Which model is it? Original DS, DS Lite or DSi?

        Its the DSi.

Now I play pokemon soul sliver on an emulator but the experience is different when playing on a PC.

Cool. I picked up a few DSis last year for really cheap. One for each of my two kids and one for me. They are fun little consoles. The DSi is really easy to hack and load roms on an SD card. I bought a handful of cartridges that are good for younger kids though and let them use those because it’s easier for them.

My knowledge of handheld gaming stops at the PSP and Nintendo’s various devices, but there’s something nice about being able to take a game with you anywhere.

I recently modded my 3ds last year and have been using it as an emulator, which has been fun.

Very much agreed. I love having a handheld on me that I can just flick on and play for a bit and flick it off and slide it back in my pocket. My odroid go has become one of my favorites because it’s the perfect size for being comfortable to play but small enough that it can just live in my pocket all the time.
