Couldn’t find anything on F-Droid. Was wondering if there even is an open-source video editor available for Android.

Unfortunately, no. The closest thing you’ll get is Video Transcoder.
For extremely basic video editing Simple Gallery is a good option.

Also I’d avoid f-droid due to security concerns.
Can you give a source for avoiding F droid. This is the first in hearing about it being an issue.
