Vivaldi is proprietary and is also based on Chromium. StartPage is owned by System1, an ad company. Need I say more?

Al this is known and discuted. Vivaldi is proprietary soft only because 5% of its script respect the UI has a patent, is based on Chromium, or more exact, on its render engine Blink, it’s not a simple Chromium fork like others. Startpage is proprietary of a advertising company, yes, but this has nothing to do, that it is one of the most privacy protecting search engine, as youself can test in the net traffic using Startpage, they are no logs or tracking of any kind, the only because I don’t like so much Startpage is, because it use ads, (context related, not based on profiling or surveillance, no filter bubble risks). Anyway you can add easily any other search engine you want, see the vid in the blogpost.

      Those which I use:

Vivaldi makes me laugh. It’s a proprietary browser which spies on their users. Stop recommending it for privacy. I’m sure it has some unique features, but Vivaldi is not a private browser.

Inform yourself better before claiming that Vivaldi spies on the user, which is absolute bullshit. The only thing that Vivaldi collects is statistical data that any browser does, to determine technical data, there is no personal data that can personally identify users. Even Firefox does it, FF even sells this data to Alphabet and NEST (Google advertising companies), to create revenue, which Vivaldi doesn’t do, Vivaldi don’t sell user data to third parties. Vivaldi is an European browser with its strickt privacy norms, which in US browsers don’t exist. But keep laughing in your belief that being FOSS is sinonym of secure and private. In any case, I am amused by those who subscribe to a channel of a browser that they do not like, only to say inconsistencies that they have heard somewhere.
