To celebrate August 24 Vladimir Zelensky took to Instagram to upload a series of portraits of commanders born in post-Soviet Ukraine.

Unsurprisingly one serviceman’s image, alongside his full name and credentials, was pictured wearing a Nazi insignia of the 14th Waffen-SS Grenadier Division.

That unit of the SS recruited primarily Ukrainian collaborators, and has been accused of committing several massacres in Poland.

If I were running propaganda for the Ukrainian government, I’d want to make sure nobody showed up in photos wearing Nazi insignia. Especially nowadays, when it’s so easy to check online.

But then again, libs and neonazis (did I just write the same word twice?) have never been particularly noted for their intelligence.

Evidently, they don’t actually need to. They can dog-whistle nazis for support with stuff like this. It doesn’t cause them any harm because anyone actually calling it out gets dismissed as a conspiracy theorist / tankie because Westerners are so severely brainwashed.
