But Chinese people are the barbaric ones guys! Yeah we’ve nuked civilians, yeah we’ve done genocide, yeah we bomb entire countries to rubble. But look at those scary savages! Their skin isn’t White!

I saw that on the news and my first thought was “Damn, the capitalists really want us to forget this is happening.” I’ll have to go back to wearing a mask when I go out if people aren’t going to isolate.

How serious is covid in the US? I can’t remember the last day of having to follow guidelines anymore and it seems to be pretty much under control over here. So is the US still bad?

Yes no. If you catch it it’s like two weeks plus six weeks of longer effects with your breathing and taste and heart tremors.

At large events it’s a definite. This year when I got it I remember thinking “I wouldn’t wish this upon my worst enemy”. It was god awful. My girlfriend got hospitalized over it for a day because she couldn’t breathe at all or hold down water. They had to use an IV.

If you’re cool with getting very sick and literally can afford it, by all means. Otherwise it’s pretty bad. It’s a judgement call. I’ll be going masked and maybe even gloved to a concert in LA gladly. Never going through that again.

Monkey pox seems to be a bigger issue here though which is a worry if you have shared seating or close quarters.

Most Americans don’t care about masks. If you’re in Cali they do though. Depends on the state and how smart the people are.

I just checked the numbers for my country and ‘under control’ is a bit much honestly. There’s still a surprising amount of people with covid related issues in the hospital and IC. This surprises me given the lack of guidelines.

I somehow managed to, as far as I know, evade covid the last years. But I’v heard and seen myself how bad it can get, with people in my surroundings even dying from it. I did get pretty sick from the vaccines though and I think I still get irregular heart rythm’s from it. But that’s better than dying of course.

It does make me feel like I should be more careful again. Especially with the long lasting effects that are still unknown.

Sucks to see how it affected you and continues to affect you. I hope we can return to a normal state soon (but given the liberal vision on this, I doubt it)

You definitely should be careful comrade. I live in central Europe and like you I managed to evade COVID ever since it started. But 2 weeks ago I caught it and then my entire family had it as well. Never felt so terrible from an illness before despite the fact that it was a supposedly “milder variant”.

COVID is definitely NOT “over” or “under control”. It’s just that the media doesn’t report on it anymore I’ve noticed.
