Ecosia and Ekoru are both search engines that use money generated from ad clicks to do something good for the environment. Ecosia plants trees while Ekoru does ocean cleanup. Both use Bing as the search provider so they’re about equal in the search quality and privacy aspects in my mind. I know it’ll be a tiny contribution from me, but I’m using search engines anyway so might as well be better than nothing?

The main issue is which would you prefer be contributed to more? Which is a more dire problem, the lack of trees or ocean garbage?

Honestly, I think you’re far better off just donating directly to non-profit organizations for the environment. There’s no need for a middleman, and there are much more ethical search engines out there (SearX comes to mind).
