GitHub is owned by Microsoft so it’s not open-source, if you want an easy alternative to GitHub other than GitLab, Gitea is a great choice, this has a GUI like GitHub but it is open-source and it is easier. You should really check out the link!

    You should also check out gogs, it’s open source as well and is relatively easy to setup.

      Sorry for this very late reply. Actually it’s still me, but it’s another account. Yes I know about Gogs. Actually Gitea is based on Gogs.

    I do love me some gitea. I also back up this repo to github, gitlab, and a self-hosted gitea.
