I don’t have a post in mind. Just joking about how /r/architecture really hates any functional buildings

Yup. The eternal reeeing about “commieblocks”, the favourite pastime of online “architecture experts”.
I’ve noticed that real architects, urban planners, etc actually tend to have a lot of respect for Soviet infrastructure, whether they subscribe to the Western political narrative or not. The fake, internet ones, not so much.
Haha my architectural student friend has this stance despite being pro-capitalist, it is interesting to talk since I’m studying Civil Eng.
Well I never had the fortune of speaking with actual architects. Instead it’s just a buncha weirdos and bloggers (looking at you, Varlamov).
Although I would argue that the internet dweller’s perspective is warped due to largely seeing post Soviet buildings - after years of decay and neglect
I think they look much better than a bunch of houses with vastly different styles…
Wasn’t that actually an art piece meant to mock hostile architecture?
I mean, they really do use spikes on the ground to prevent people from sleeping here.
You’re right; apparently that specific one was an art project
It’s really convincing though. A sign of how ficked up the world is.
Capitalist solution to homelessness: hide the problem with hostile architecture to drive away the homeless people and blame the individual choice of homeless people for their homelssness instead of the plutocratic government under Capitalism. If they cannot cover up homelessness or blame individual choice as a solution, then use a form of welfare that will only solve the superficial problem but never solve the root problem despite the cost.
Socialist solution to homelessness: allow employment opportunity, minimal wage which allow the poor to gain living wage with only one job, and any policies that can solve poverty in the material condition of the local economy.
Keeping the tradition alive.
This appartment complex was built under LIFE Mission by Communist govt in Kerala, India. It is a revolutionary mission to provide housing to all the people in the state. It is in its third phase and already handovered 150,000 houses. The target is to build 430,000 in five years.
Based AF, it’s super hard to fight the real state burgeousie like this under a capitalist constitution.
