You’d think cryptocurrency would appear more in fiction considering how popular it is irl. So instead of cyberpunk, have cryptopunk? Which sounds like cyberpunk written by a hedge fund manager with 1.5 million in bitcoin irl.

    There is so much fiction in crypto, that it would seem reasonable to have a little crypto in fiction :P

    electronic currencies have been a thing in sci-fi since forever (both state and privately issued) in fact I’m pretty sure satoshi invented bitcoin because they read some sci-fi novel and thought that it should exist you can check the cryptoanarchists mailing list archives to verify this

    There are plenty of fictional currencies if it’s this what you look for, though mostly not crypto. Just search for “fictional currencies” or “currencies science fiction” or so. I agree, however, with mekhos’ answer if I may say so -:))
