I was just reading posts on there a few minutes ago and it is now banned. That sub was pretty much just educational, this shit is getting ridiculous.

This worries me because it is clear that Reddit is (understandably) more concerned about people becoming educated than the spread of memes. They clearly don’t want GenZedong around, but they recognise that what is basically a meme subreddit will have much less of an impact on people than a subreddit for education, as GenZhou was all about.

This makes me concerned that similar subreddits like r/InformedTankie are next. I’m honestly surprised at how long that sub has gone completely unscathed, considering how explicit its intentions are. It’s also a lot bigger than GenZhou was. Maybe it’s survived so long because it isn’t part of the “GenZ” circle, who knows.

Either way this is certainly not a good sign. On the upside, it almost certainly means more traffic for Lemmygrad, so there’s a plus :D

You think they would have learned from the alt-right tech exodus…

The problem with Lemmygrad.ml though is that then there’s much less of a chance that ML’s can deradicalize right wingers/liberals the way they successfully have on Reddit. While Lemmygrad is great for organizing and discussion among other Marxists, it’s pretty isolated ideologically speaking. And I don’t see the kind of interaction between ignorant libs/right wingers and ML’s on Lemmy as I did on Reddit, because, well, there aren’t really any non-ML’s on Lemmy.
