That article is undergoing heavy editing right now. It was either reverted or revised in a way that is again similar.
Wikipedia has been a political actor for a long time. There’s Philip Cross (https://wikipedia.fivefilters.org), and Jimmy Wales’s a huge Rand fan (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2008/sep/25/wikipedia.internet). It is well known to alter events to a pro-Western, pro-imperialist narrative.
As usual - WikiWars intensified during crisis, but since the very basis of the platform is capitalistic/fash (plus IIRC it’s creator openly declared himself as an anti-communist more than once) the “winner” is known in advance. They have the tools needed to lock it (or whatever it is today) and achieve the intended final form of the article.

The Azov Special Operations Detachment (Ukrainian: Окремий загін спеціального призначення «Азов», romanized: Okremyi zahin spetsialnoho pryznachennia “Azov”), also known as the Azov Detachment, Azov Regiment (Ukrainian: Полк Азов, romanized: Polk Azov), Azov Battalion (until September 2014), or simply Azov, is a right-wing extremist,[1][2] neo-Nazi,[3][4][5] formerly paramilitary unit of the National Guard of Ukraine,[6][7][8] based in Mariupol, in the Azov Sea coastal region.[9] Azov formed as a volunteer militia in May 2014,[10] and has since been fighting Russian separatist forces in the Donbas War. It saw its first combat experience recapturing Mariupol from pro-Russian separatists in June 2014.[6] On 12 November 2014, Azov was incorporated into the National Guard.[11][12]
