I think the US’ Capitalistic urges are actively kicking themselves in the face now. By facing every attempt of competition with fast and loose economic sanctions, or worse, military intervention they are forcing nations to build alternate alliances and homegrown technologies … bad idea doing that to China, they’ll have this figured out faster than any nation on earth.
It’s like one of those Greek tragedies where the protagonist ends up acting out a self fulfilling prophecy.
From N2 to 10A, it would take 4 years ( seems like an agressive deadline, probably unlikely to reach in time, and another 8 years to reach 2A ) i wonder if the gain from 10A to 2A would be worth it, but meanwhile if china achieve 4nm from 14nm that would be a significant progress. source: $INTC
China has a pretty good track record of delivering faster than expected, and it’s a lot easier to do things the second time around than inventing them from scratch because you already have an idea of what the correct approach is. Furthermore, China can just poach researchers and engineers who developed this tech from other countries.
Yea they could find a workeraround.
