I saw an amazing video by Chinese state media a while ago that really opened my eyes to the inner workings of the NPC. They interviewed a worker at an electric bike factory who held some position of power within the NPC and she elucidated what she did there on behalf of the workers.
I am absolutely pissed that I can’t find it. If anyone knows, it’s an English guy interviewing people. IIRC it displays a local vote on how to allocate recently built housing, and the people unanimously decide the most fair way to do it is practically to draw straws - random, but it’s a creative solution stemming from the masses, and everyone accepts the outcome.
The English guy also does a sick production ramp ride-off on an electric bike.
Sorry I wasn’t more helpful comrade. I’m hoping someone reads this and knows what video I’m talking about lol
I’ll make sure to watch it if I ever happen to find it!
coincidentally (I assume) another user just posted a video about the topic five minutes after this
yeah it’s a pretty good interview, with a guy that actually lives in China

Worse than “The Spaghetti Incident?”?
Oh I honestly forgot that one existed lol. Idk if I’ve ever listened to it
late to the party but for posterity sake i’ll recommend Roland Boer’s Communism with Chinese Characteristics for Foreigners.
