If you want to program some actual RISC-V processor and are into embedded there’s “Sipeed Longan Nano” boards that are pretty cool. They have a bootloader burnt in so you can program them without extra equipment (just USB-C cable) and if you have a second one you can use it for JTAG programming and debugging. (RV-LINK firmware) It also has tons of hardware peripherals and can be programmed in rust. (Although the HAL crate still needs some work)
Edit: ofc you can also use qemu but actual hardware that can do things is more fun imo
