Where we see stupidity, reddit will see success. They haven’t been the bastion of free speech on the internet that they began as for a long time. The ipo will surely be a financial success, and it’ll be the excuse that spez has been dreaming of to finally wipe out controversial communities like r/piracy once and for all.
@dessalines I didn’t know about the IPO until looking at the subreddit today, and it seems like a good opportunity to see how Lemmy interacts with Mastodon (having jumped ship from Twitter in November).
I’m not surprised that they would eventually have an IPO, and for shareholders r/piracy seems an easy target to demand they take down.
We do have good, but not perfect, integration with most fediverse platforms. Its an ongoing process of fixing specific issues, and we have @nutomic@lemmy.ml to thank for the already really great integration.
We’re getting a lot of new registrations on this instance, because the news of the reddit ipo means they might start banning some piracy communities.
Super nice, I hope we get a lot of people from r/piracy. Funny how most of the big exodus occur because Reddit’s own stupidity.
Seems to be the main reason most of the user influxes happen. People are happy with reddit until the company threatens their communities.

Thanks @nutomic@lemmy.ml!
Oh this instance needs new account approval? I didn’t know that.
