I think they are more likely to gamble and start another war, rather than quietly admit defeat. Its what they did in Ukraine after all. And its true that most countries dont want war, but if US decide to attack the wrong country, they will be hurt badly.

They are definitely angling to provoke China over Taiwan, but Ukraine went far worse than they anticipated and it’s not clear they have the resources at this point. Energy prices keep climbing, and US is now stuck between prospects of either having a hyperinflation or a huge recession at this point. I also fully expect covid to spike up come fall which will further tank the economy.

The right-wing of the US has already been trying to blame all of the wild inflation shit on the bullshit $4000 total that most people got. Along with trying to blame gas prices as being due to investing in renewable energy stuff. But they completely ignore the part where there isn’t ANY shortages of oil, and that it is literally the oil companies just using whatever excuses they can to raise prices. First they tried to justify shit with the pipeline ransomware shutdown “requiring” them to raise prices to make up for “lost sales”. They always find ways to do this if prices drop below what they want. Shit must be nationalized to cap that shit and use money from it to go in hard as fuck on actually building out the renewable stuff and jumpstart real progress to get the change over going now. I don’t like seeing and hearing so many people suffering from the money of it all. However this is literally the absolute best time to get the anticapitalist real left growing and get that class awakening focused. The mushy middle class that are happy to just let whatever oppressive shit going so long as they don’t lose their status are the ones that must be forced to stop being so selfish and ignorant. And when shit is going worse and worse we have a good opening to offer a better way. Shit is still not bad enough for them though. They need for more to fail before excepting that all suffering the working class and poor of both the US and (even more so) the world has been because of them blindly following the rich/elites. And that now they too will know suffering if they don’t join in meaningful solidarity with those that they looked down upon.

Completely agree with that, capitalist exploitation is becoming impossible to ignore for most people in US right now. People are starting to realize that they’re getting screwed systemically and that makes them much more receptive towards new ideas.
