“The hacker ethic is a philosophy and set of moral values that is common within hacker culture. Practitioners of the hacker ethic believe that sharing information and data with others is an ethical imperative. The hacker ethic is related to the concept of freedom of information, as well as the political theories of liberalism, anarchism, and libertarianism.” at hispagatos we are Anarchist, and we promote the hacker ethics from a anarchist (left, anti capitalist, no gods no masters) position but with technology and computer networks. We work hard to preserve decentralization, security and privacy in cyberspace and motivate towars an horizontal and non hierarchical techno-anarcho-communist society (TACS) where technology is made by people for the people not by corporate masters to control people. a(A)a

Well, not all hackers are anarchists (in fact I don’t think the majority of hackers are). So I didn’t want to put it there.

For example, ESR is a classical liberal, many of the hackers who post are Marxist-Leninists, and there are even some hackers who are conservative.

who says “all” hackers are anarchist? I am not sure where people is seen that… it says there is a “FORK” <- if you are a coder so you to understand… a sub/split/subpart/subgroup … etc etc call it whatever “inside the hacker culture” of anarchist hackers <---- I do not see any where that it says ALL hackers are anarchists… says some hackers started a new. just like there are Anarcho communist and green anarchists… there are hackers of many ways … ONE of those are anarchist hackers. Steven levy put it clear and now I do say anmd this is only some opiinions of people over 40 like most of my group “most” hackers follow into the anti authority type, read the hacker ethics. this are facts the rest is people individuals that separate themself to make their business and capitalist ideas look good like many people my age that sold out… you cant not say what is a hacker for what 4 sell out people said… and ESR is a libertarian cowboy AKA a libertarian in the USA, not a libertarian from the rest of the world definition. what we argue is that ESR is also anti authority just loves capitalism. still a hacker yes… im not sure maybe is because the ONLY person who was native english who wrote that are in jail and is been updated by people in Europe/Latin America for most part from the 1970’s and 80’s so feel free to help change the parts that makes people think that says ALL hackers because every now and then someone says that… another person on this thread also said that at first and had to re read it.

I personally think the opposite. I think the majority of hackers are anarchists (at least those who apply those ethics), you cannot centralize and decentralize at the same time. Also, I think conservatives would not agree with letting everybody in and letting go intellectual property (same with liberals).

Maybe they call themselves “hacker” for marketing, but they certainly aren’t.
