Today marks my first day on lemmy after leaving Reddit after 3 years, I already like the platform I just wish their was a mobile app, and wish the mobile web support was a bit more polished but i understand it’s still in it’s earlier stages

I still read on Reddit every now and then without an account, but with the US elections coming up, I think I’ll quit that, too. The amount of propaganda and political bullshit posted in the months ahead of that, is just absolutely astounding.

Seems they’re already starting to push the agenda that people should not vote for either Trump nor Biden, so that the brainwashed fucknuts who will vote for Trump no matter what, will win the election.

Yeah, thing is Linux and programming discussions, I can have on here and on Mastodon. I mostly come to Reddit for less intellectual content, so especially without an account, /r/all is unfortunately the only real entrypoint.

I try to filter out the subreddits that I truly don’t care for (sports, certain games, movies, series etc.) or that are racist, sexist, glorifying violence, insulting people etc…

Which are 194 subreddits right now. I do have to say that I was appalled, how much hateful content is just par of the course (presumably because they banned those 7000 hate subreddits).
Like, why is there a fairly popular subreddit called /r/FightPorn? Why does /r/HoldMyCosmo frequently show women seriously injuring themselves? Just what kind of sociopaths find this content entertaining?
