I have personally never used Enlightenment DE. I did try it once though. It was something very different than your usual everyday DE like KDE, XFCE, Gnome, etc.
What is the deal with Enlightenment? I rarely see it being used or someone recommending it. Heck I haven’t even come across a distro (except for that one time, I think it was Bodhi Linux?) that ships Enlightenment out of the box.
Bodhi Linux actually ships their own fork of Enlightenment (called “Moksha”) which is basically a stabilized and polished, older version of Enlightenment.
Well, and that tells you a lot about Enlightenment already. It’s rather unstable, it’s unconventional and often confusing, and yeah, there’s not many distros that package it correctly or even theme it.
On the other hand, it’s the flashiest desktop around and one of the lightest at the same time, which is impressive and makes it deserve a look, if you’re fine with unconventional and a bit buggy.
