  • I mean, if the quality of content on the site currently is any indication of how things will look like going forward, I think maybe ditching reddit will be easier than I thought. it’s wayyyyyyy more reactionary than usual, though I think there’s some 4chan-originated pot-stirring going on. still though, it’s not a pleasant place to be right now.

  • I’m in the exact same boat. Granted, I did patch the reddit app with revanced manager to get rid of ads (just for shits and giggles tbh, and to see “what I’ll be working with” if my addiction is so strong)… but it’s still a slow app experience with a lot of bloat. So, meh…

    Way back in the day, I used Digg and reddit about equally, before Digg V4 made it totally unusable and then I made the switch. I imagine any transition I make will go something like that. i.e. I dual wield reddit and Lemmy and/or Tildes for a while, and then they nuke old.reddit or something equally smoothbrained, and then I’m done forever. Nuking the API is pretty bad as it is, but I’m primarily a desktop user, so me participating in the blackout and boycott is more on principle, because fuck that slimy shithead spez.

  • I’m enjoying it so far.

    Sometimes the controls can be a little wonky and frustrating, but that might be unavoidable. Maybe this is just my “dopamine fiend” Gamer Brain talking, but I do wish the game were a little faster in some aspects. Not performance-wise. I just find myself saying/thinking “oh my god -.-” and/or “please hurry up” often. Like the mandatory Blood Moon cutscene - I’m glad we can skip it, but do we REALLY need it to play every single time there’s a Blood Moon? Come on. -.-

    Anyway, overall, I’m enjoying it. The world is beautiful and I love that there are seemingly infinite ways to solve the puzzles within Hyrule. I KNOW I’ve solved puzzles in ways that I CLEARLY was not meant to solve them with, lol.

    I just wish we could pet the dog!!! ;_;

    agreed. in the case of AI art, there are some legitimate artists out there (Rob Sheridan comes to mind) who are making wonderful use of AI image generation tools and incorporating it into their artwork and it’s SO cool.

    it’s a shame that so far the loudest people touting AI are the annoying “bro buy my latest shitcoin” techbros.

    Fingers crossed that the rapid decline of “mainstream” social media, news, forum sites leads to more widespread adoption of the fediverse. The internet used to be so good before we were all under the Boot…

    anyway, hi y’all. I’d say I’m happy to be here, but I’m not… I’m just so disheartened at what our internet has become. BUT - I am hopeful. I think we’re experiencing growing pains as a society and this is but one side effect of that; I truly believe the future is on our side, here.

    either that, or we all return to monke and THAT is how we free ourselves of the collective brain rot that is web2.0 and beyond. :)

    anyway, cheers to a Good Internet. may it still be possible. <3
