Reminds me of what my father (himself a religious man) used to say during the Iraq war, when idiot evangelicals would hit him with the slogan “there are no atheists in the foxhole” – this was a thing during the Bush years. “There might be no atheists” he’d reply, “but there sure are a lot of rapists and adulterers.” It didn’t win him many friends.
