This is precisely why I criticize the ANSWER coalition. Those who show support for it claim it is the “most successful modern anti-war movement”, to this I ask what have they accomplished? What war has been stopped or even hindered under their leadership? Indeed, they represent the faux/synthetic left who are indeed modern champions, however they are champions only of virtue signalling and exercises in futility - nihilistic populism. What determines the value of a tool is it’s ability to achieve it’s built for goal(s). If results are not being seen, the tool is not fit for the job, this is no different for committees, orgs, movements, leaders, etc… If the desired results are not being seen there is a question of fitness of the tool being used as well as a question of substance of which it is made of. Take a cheap Amazon wrench, it says it is rated for X amount of torque, but snap when a fraction is applied. ANSWER is like a cheap Amazon wrench, never achieving it’s espoused goals. And it too does this mischievously to benefit capital, claiming to be a solution while fundamentally lacking any qualifications towards achieving that goal. It is not simply a case of “one can never trust the CIA” however that does not help their case, like a “healthy/safe/green” product with a California carcinogen warning label on it. It eludes to the true nature of such a product and it’s actual use.

It’s not uncommon to see people become so swept up on dogma that they lose sight of the humanitarian side of an argument. The simplest fact of the Ukrainian invasion is that it is, well, an invasion- and people are dying and a nation is losing its self-evidently valuable sovereignty.

I by no means rebut how obviously propaganda is wielded in the framing of this war; the narrative bias in the media is clear. It does not make the author by default correct to sanctimoniously act like everyone else is a bunch of dumb dumbs because you identified this.

You only need to ping in to your human side to see that what is happening is a tragedy, furthermore it’s clear the only one who has the stop button to this affair is the head of Russia’s government. You know who I refer to.

Shifting gears entirely, I’d like to peel back the tone and intent of the article as well as the OP who shared this. What is your intent in sharing the article? Without knowing what you mean exactly, I feel that I can’t properly engage in the conversation, you know? What is the relation to communism here besides the clear (and frankly fair) disparaging of the American government’s goals and intent in the narrative being written around the war?

How many people died in the Donbas between 2014 and 2022 before the SMO started?

          Nah bro, fuck you.

You’re concerned about people dying and losing their sovereignty, but only when it’s people you care about.

“Whataboutism” means fuck all when you’re trying to duck the literal context of the events at hand.

“Whatabout” you be intellectually honest for once.

Honestly I feel that a few people in the community could be referred to there. There’s a contingent who are extraordinarily rigid in their ideology and willingly turn a blind eye to blatantly awful things happening in communist nations because they like the other good bits. Like, I get it, but a turd is a turd.
