I know there’s a lot of atheist users on this site, some are also very critical of religious stuff so I’m just asking so nobody gets offended.

To rephrase Stalin, there is the dogmatic way to do Marxism, and there is the pragmatic way. We follow the pragmatic way. I think we ought to entertain a network where everyone is welcome as long as they are friendly to the Marxist-Leninist cause and do not seek any trouble.

That being said, religion is often manipulated and corrupted when intermingling with political economy by organising itself into churches, sects, cults, and affiliated marketing schemes. Depending on their historic tendency to exert pressure against the economic welfare of the proletariat, to intrude upon the orderly proceeding of science and statecraft, to involve themselves in offences against the common good and the dealings of the criminal underworld, and to peddle anti-communist hysteria, the role of predatory religious organisations is to be shunned, and in particular clearly distanced from the genuinely progressive, proletarian aspect of the faith.

I mean I’m personally skeptical of having religious sub-communities (or an /c/atheism for that matter) as it seems like a potential source of drama and strife. I’m also an atheist.

Buuuut, seeing as there are already religious communities here (some of them truly niche and strange, like I’ve never even heard of this type of thing) I don’t see why others don’t have the right to do the same.

So it needs to be either no religious communities (including pagan, witchcraft, other new age ahem stuff) or we have to allow any so long as they don’t promote reaction, bigotry, counter-revolution, anti-Marxism, etc, etc.

I like it. Islamic communism is something I’m interested in, esp during the Iranian revolution. Even if I didn’t ‘learn’ anything from it, I’m happy for it to be in the space

There are communities for all sorts of off-topic things, and real people believe in different faiths, I see no reason to worry about offending.

There Christian based ones, and witchcraft ones. Why not?

I once spoke about astrology and everyone lost their shit. We should respect everyone’s views so long as they’re not against our community guidelines as a whole. The obvious no racism, misogyny, etc.

I’ve had very powerful experiences with astrology. Like all things spiritual I think it’s full of quacks and scammers and aesthetic clout chasers but when shit hits it hits.

I’m personally Atheist but I can appreciate Islam, I actually do the Wudu ritual washing after work everyday, not for religious reasons but damn it’s so good for you to clean up your sweatiest/dirtiest body parts after a long day of work outside. And not to sound like a lib, but Denzel Washington in the Malcolm X movie really astonished me at a young age, I was raised Irish Catholic but that movie brought up so many great questions and points that Malcolm X made to push against the narrative that Jesus was white and that Christianity is the acceptable religious norm in the USA. It was one of the many events that lead to me becoming atheist. I will always appreciate Islam, but I don’t think I’ll ever fully believe in the religious aspects of it if that makes any sense.

Ditto, with comrades like Malcom X, hakim, and Lady Izdihar, I have come to respect Islam, but by no means does that mean I am swayed from my agnosticism.

I just ignored one community like this, it had community banner with Marx of all people saying only the god is lord of the land. I get that this is a joke about landlords but still in very bad taste.

I’m either an atheist or a pagan depending on how you want to categorize (I do occasional ritual stuff but don’t believe it’s literally real), so this is half coming from a place of general distaste towards belief in the supernatural and half from a place of recognising the importance of such beliefs to people as a salve:

I say go for it, as long as it doesn’t become reactionary, or chauvinistic towards non-believers (I remember someone back on r/genzedong who would drone on about how only Islamic socialism was TRUE socialism and Marx was just ripping off [insert historical theocratic state here] it was kinda dumb and irritating lol). But you seem chill so yeah, whatever fam.
