actual quote from the “filmmaker” (emphasis mine)

When they told us about the Holocaust, they said, they will never burn Jews again. Guess what? It happened again. And the world does not believe us. That is like going full circle to 1939-1945. It’s insanity. So it’s not just about a terror attack. This is a holocaust. And that’s why for me, as a third generation Holocaust survivors, as a filmmaker who live in the States as an American, that’s my duty to bring it to the world.

literally calling himself a holocaust survivor because of one attack on the opposite side of the world from where he lives. absolutely grotesque

“When I am writing an email to a filmmaker, I’m writing as a filmmaker, somebody who’s bringing the truth to the world,” he continued. “That is my goal here. To show what started everything. The atrocities, the mini-Holocaust that happened there, that we as a nation, we as the world cannot stand still and silent and just move on. Now, it doesn’t mean that I’m not pro-Palestinian. I am pro-two state solution. I have Palestinian friends. I am a left wing filmmaker, but this is not a left or right wing thing. This is just something that the whole world should see it. So that’s my mission.”

both-sides Israeli “left wing filmmaker”, whose politically-enlightened “left wing” but still centrist analysis of the Palestinian situation is that “Hamas started all the violence when they attacked on October 7th”.

Lol the idea that filmmakers inherently ‘bring the truth to the world’ is some absolute on-brand ideology. Sure buddy, Birth of a Nation brought ‘truth to the world’.

Anybody with even an iota of communications knowledge (and even that is usually suspect in it’s theoretical content) knows that, if the truth exists in the world, at best a film can mediate that truth (hence why it is call media), it cannot ‘bring the truth’ anywhere.

  • I know when it comes to viewing authentic footage of real world events happening, my go-to is to seek out private screenings curated by filmmakers in New York City and Hollywood.

kinda reminds me of the best documentary I’ve ever seen, Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

You know, it was originally titled Terminator 2: Judging Day. It was written as a quirky mockumentary about contest judges.

      • Dear Eternal President Xi,

From afar I have greatly admired your stewardship of the Chinese Communist Party. It is clear by now that socialism with Chinese characteristics offer the only viable alternative to terminally declining US global hegemony. Comprehensive deepening of reform at home coupled with the visionary Belt and Road initiative abroad are offering a stable basis for the development of a worldwide alliance of progressive national elements towards the long-term goal of overthrowing the dominance of Anglo-American finance capital and establishing global communism.

However, there is one issue with your leadership that sadly prevents my official endorsement of Xi Jinping thought. A black mark on your record that has become increasingly difficult to ignore. The presence of CGI blood and muzzle flashes in Chinese action blockbusters such as Wolf Warrior 2.

If the 1980s style action films of your regime are going to insist on using the contemporary Washington consensus approach to action special effects, sacrificing verisimilitude and awesomeness on the altar of grim budgetary efficiency, perhaps party-led development really is functionally identical to neo-liberal capitalism.

As such, I am hereby calling for the US to renew it’s commitment to defending the sovereignty of Taiwan, supporting the struggle of freedom fighters in Hong Kong, and calling on our State Department to increase diplomatic pressure to force regime change, to punish the continue to punish the persecution of the Weegers, the Whygurs? whatever they’re called. Anyway…

    Tinfoil hat time!

I’m starting to think there’s this big anti-Semetic conspiracy at play here. Not in the usual sense, the usual conspiracies are the conspiracy. The US and Israel seem to be trying to make sure that nazis can tick off all their boxes of accusations against Jewish people, they seem to be trying to behave exactly how the anti-Semite claims they behave. And now, like all good conspiracy theories, I’m going to avoid giving them clear motivation for why they do this and just kind of gesture vaguely in the direction of “social control.”

I won’t pretend to understand the Zionist motivations at work here - except maybe that they think they can harness the Christian psychosis to achieve their own ends - but I can tell you exactly why a bunch of Christians support this shit. They, like Mike Flynn and this other guy subscribe to a wild, apocalyptic version of Christianity, and they literally believe that a world war based around events in Israel will herald the coming of Christ.

So it’s actually good to support horrific war in that area, because it means that soon Jesus will come and fix everything.

This is the actual stuff I was taught as a child. This is what my parents believe. War in the middle east is good because it could bring Jesus.

Oh yeah, I’ve heard of the weird evangelical desire to support Israel because they believe it will bring about the rapture or whatever. I guess a lot of these people have their own reasons for doing this heinous shit. The left could only dream of the unity right wing shitheads have.

So that Nazis go more hog wild and Jewish people don’t feel safe anywhere anymore, so they go to Israel, thus getting the diaspora back to Israel and furthering the settler-colonial project.

I dunno. I think the playbook for antisemitic conspiracy theories is a lot simpler than that. They’re just looking at the ways that capital and power tend to operate and saying “capital and power are actually good. this is all being done by one specific race of people who look white but actually aren’t.”

In the US, capital and power are behind Israel, therefore their actions align with those described by antisemites. The antisemitic part is just ascribing these actions to the Jews.

I’m gonna make a movie of me cumming everywhere but I can’t stop and I get sent to jail for cumming until a filmmaker starts visiting me in jail and makes a movie / plea showing everyone that I didn’t mean to cum all the time it’s just something that I do without any control.
