    It’s funny that you should post this. Just this morning I stumbled upon some PRC‐bashing that was underneath—of all things—a torture instrument from the First Reich. I tried to do some research based on the Redditor’s claim and this video was the best source that I could find. Wikipedia’s section on Chinese man catchers has a grand total of 0 citations, and I gave up trying to confirm the locations of a few photos, two of which could have been from Japan or S. Korea for all I know.

    We’re close to the point now where we can’t even sneeze without some dullard bringing up the PRC and how much it sucks, in part because anticommunists can say almost anything about the PRC as long as it isn’t too wacky. For example, saying that Xí Jìnpíng is secretly the alien queen from the Alien franchise wouldn’t work since it’s so obviously impossible. On the other hand, you could say ‘recent psychological studies have indicated that Xí is a psychopathic, narcissistic schizophreniac with autism and APD’ and Redditors would probably eat that shit up, since there is a morsel of plausibility to the situation.

    IIRC China has banned outdoor cats in many cities due to environmental concerns, namely wildlife. Has the US? Hmm?

        I’m doing an environmental science major and I’ve literally had three different lectures in three different classes about how bad outdoor cats are for the ecosystem. Like, ecosystem collapse and mass extinction level bad.

          I know about it, they often kill some bird randomly and don’t even eat it, me and my siblings saw bird bodies many times next to streets and in woods, idk why people worship them so much, especially when there are miles cooler animals.
