      It sounds like the notwithstanding clause needs to be removed, no? The US Constitution certainly has its flaws, but at least it can’t be blatantly violated for years at a time.

        The US constitution has been violated and abused ever since it was signed, even by its signers. Many treaties with Native Nations and even rulings by the Supreme Court have been violated for hundreds of years now. The US Constitution can be openly and flagrantly violated for its entire lifespan and people will claim its a successful document we should cherish.
