PinePhone is currently prototyping a fingerprint scanner that goes on the back of the phone. I’m just curious, how important would a dedicated killswitch be for you?
Also, a bit of a tangent, but how do you feel about the fact that the killswitches are hidden behind the back cover instead of easily reachable on the side like the Librem?
Considering the scanner is simply attached to the back cover and is swappable a switch could be designed but there would need to be a revision of the hardware first.
I think the Librem switches make more sense on a day to day basis, but the lack of a switch for the scanner wouldnt matter to me in the slightest (nor does the current lack of a scanner on either device).
I have no idea why anyone would want a finger print scanner unless you want someone to knock you out to open your phone.
I agree, the kill switches on the inside defeats the purpose as well.
