Tested positive on one of those lateral flow tests. Somehow got the test line DARKER than the control line. How the hell does that even happen? Does that mean I have super covid or something?

No one else cares, not the government or my university. See comments: https://teddit.net/r/UBC/comments/xfewx3/is_ubc_doing_any_covid_monitoring_or_support/

Got three Pfizers as soon as i was eligible, for all the good that did. I’m now a data point on that ongoing scandal that Pfizer boosters don’t do shit.

This is day two of symptoms (started yesterday night) and HOLY SHIT! I am literally disoriented and dizzy and my head hurts like I slammed it into a wall. Actually, the best way to describe it is I feel really, really drunk/hungover right now, like it’s actually affecting my ability to think and type this post. I’m honestly shocked by how fast it escalated, it started with a sore throat last night, and last afternoon I felt completely fine. I’ve had the flu before, this is so much worse. Fuck everything about this. I live with my somewhat elderly parents and very elderly grandparents and I’m genuinely worried for their safety. Not to mention the slew of people I infected before symptoms got bad enough that I decided to test. I thought I just had a cold/flu at first because I wasn’t coughing, but yeah, no.

I started getting the sore throat while i was out doing stuff last night. I took transit also doing stuff today because I didn’t think I had covid since I wasn’t coughing and didn’t have trouble breathing, still not really coughing or trouble breathing actually. Fuck. FuckFuckFuckFuck. I hope I don’t end up killing someone.

I had it, too, recently. It fucking sucks, I felt like I was dying. I’m sorry comrade.

Not saying in any way that I’m a “vaccine skeptic” or whatever but I get why non-Qanoners can adopt that idea. The line from the state and the CDC changed so much in such a short time that it seemed outrageous. Vaccines would prevent transmission to only protecting others to only lessening the symptoms to needing to be boosted every 3 months, on and on. Everyone I’m around is vaccinated and we’re super anal about wearing masks. I was around it for literally years in the healthcare field, when it first sprang up and later, and never got it. Getting it (as well as all my vaccinated roommates) after, according to the U.S. state, the pandemic is officially dying down, they’ve stopped recording new cases and we “don’t have to worry that much anymore” feels like a cruel cosmic joke. It is a joke. Just a damn farce. Trying so hard for so long, isolating oneself from one’s loved ones, losing our youth – it’s just cosmically fucking hilarious isn’t it? I’m not sure if it’s similar in Canada.

Take painkillers if you need. Rest and relax as much as possible. Fluids, fluids, fluids. Sending you well wishes, comrade. You’ll make it through this. We’re all survivors.

The vaccines do not prevent transmission, like at all. They do help with severity and a recent study showed that fully vaccinated people have a 16-17% chance of developing long covid while unvaxxed is like 30%. https://www.chicagomag.com/chicago-magazine/october-2022/the-long-haul/

The main thing I have read is that to avoid long covid it is really important to do almost nothing while you have it. Like get groceries delivered and lay in bed as much as possible. Your body is fighting. That way you limit the damage being done to your lungs and brain.

Welcome to the victims of capitalism in yet one more way comrade.

Just wear an n95 mask while outside of your bedroom (and they should as well) to keep your family safe. If you can afford it, purchase a HEPA air filter like this one

Also, to not be a debbie downer - China and Cuba and the US actually seem to all be making ground on a sterilizing vaccine to prevent transmission (intranasal and other forms).

That sucks. Hopefully you’re having the worst of it now. I got it for the first time in April. Felt like bad allergies for a week. Absolutely drink plenty of water, and consider a high dose of vitamin C (2000mg). Good luck.

Dang comrade, this almost reads like a creepypasta. I’ve been lucky myself so far to not catch it. I think having little family and not being around certain key places like schools helps tremendously since I haven’t ever even caught the flu once ever since I got out of high school.

You won’t kill someone. You will be okay. The dreams are not fun, but usually it takes a few days.

I ate peaches. Peaches really helped me for some reason. Any sort of Citrus juice type thing did too. It wasn’t a cure of course, but it dulled the headache while consuming. It may not work for you, just posting my experience.

🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂 lots of hugs my comrade

I too had COVID back in July. Ever since the pandemic started I changed my life to stay safe and keep my family safe. I made sure to encourage and educate my close family to stay safe because COVID is no joke. But back in July one of my family members got too careless and contracted it without knowing (they thought it was just a flu). A day later I started feeling ill as well (sore throat, slight dizziness, fever) and when the symptoms started getting awful we all did a test and tested positive. We were told to quarantine for a week.

In my personal case (and my family’s as well) COVID is only the worst for the first 3 - 4 days. After that it starts getting better. Much like you, I didn’t really cough either. But I noticed that I was able to taste much less and my whole body felt like it was burning (not heat, but like, as if there was fire under my skin, it’s hard to describe) from time to time. The dizziness was the worst. It was literally like being super drunk. There was also this weird feeling in my chest, I felt like my lifetime was being shortened in real-time.

It really pisses me off though. Because according to our media and government here “COVID is over”. They just pretend like it doesn’t exist anymore while sweeping all the people who suffer from this dangerous disease under a rug and even actively encourage people to go outside, go on vacation and spend money. On top of that the media now blames China for spreading the virus and starting the pandemic because they can’t hide the fact anymore that COVID here is getting worse again.

Like you mentioned, most don’t really seem to care. So me and my family now go outside only if absolutely necessary. But even then you can never be sure if COVID lurks just a few steps away since we live in an apartment complex. I can definitely share your anger and frustration, comrade. It’s beyond infuriating. So much suffering is happening right now that could easily be prevented.

Spare your energy, only eat food that is easy to digest and stay hydrated. Focus on positive things. You’ll get through it. ;)

Me and my parents had COVID summer last year. I was mostly worried about my grandparents because I had been with them a few days before. Everything turned out to be alright thankfully.

I lost my sense of taste for months. It was strange, I’d eat an orange and it felt like I was chewing on water. Other than that there was a little bit of sneezing for the first few days.

But more importantly, I hope you get well soon. Someone like you deserves better than to have to deal with this shit.
